Love, Identity & Connection
Our community can be a hurtful and marginalizing place, especially for those questioning or affirming their gender and sexual identity. To feel you exist outside of the community’s assumed binary can be difficult to face alone. I strive to create a safe space for you to be and continue to become, so whether you are exploring your identity, in the process of transitioning, or you are a parent who seeks a safe space for you and/or your child, I am here to support your process.
In my practice, I believe in working with and honoring the whole person. Affirmative therapy is an approach to therapy that embraces a competent and positive view of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and more self-defining identities (LGBTQIA+)*, and addresses the negative influences that homophobia, transphobia, and heterosexism have on the lives of LGBTQIA+ clients. This work provides the opportunity to gain awareness, strengthen your ability to deal with challenges, and discover new ways of being in the world.
I also work with couples and partners who are navigating consensual non-monogamous relationships, including open, polyamorous, and other ethically non-traditional structures. These relationships can bring unique challenges around communication, trust, attachment, boundaries, jealousy, power, and differing needs or pacing between partners. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore these dynamics with curiosity and care—whether you are opening a relationship, renegotiating agreements, repairing ruptures, or seeking greater clarity and connection within your relational system.
Some of the areas in which I provide psychotherapy and resource support include, but are not limited to:
- Exploration of gender identity and expression, including a wide range of lived experiences
- Support for individuals of all ages, including teens and families navigating questions about identity
- Support for individuals and couples exploring relationship styles and personal values, including consensual non-monogamous, polyamorous, kink-aware, and open partnerships—addressing communication, boundaries, jealousy, attachment dynamics, and relational repair
- Coming out
- Guidance and resource support for those pursuing gender-related medical care**
Whether you are questioning, affirming, or redefining how you love and connect, my goal is to offer a thoughtful, respectful space where all parts of your identity and relationships can be explored without judgment.
