MEET HOVHANNES NAZARYAN

Hovhannes Nazaryan is a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Walden University. He approaches therapy from a psychodynamic perspective, with a particular interest in object relations and the ways identity, relationships, and life experiences shape emotional development. Hovhannes is especially interested in working with adolescents and young adults and brings over five years of experience as a middle school and high school teacher into his clinical work. His background in education has helped him develop a warm, patient, and approachable style while working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. He also has a strong interest in disability and neurodiversity-related issues and has conducted research focused on spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and mental health care utilization.
Outside of his professional work, Hovhannes enjoys playing chess, watching anime and sitcoms, playing video games, and learning about different cultures and perspectives from around the world. He values authenticity, curiosity, and meaningful human connection, and strives to create an environment where people feel understood and comfortable being themselves.
